On day 20 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, Hanwha Life Esports managed to defeat NS RedForce in the first match of the day. Despite dropping a game with bot lane Ziggs in game 1, HLE managed to run it back with the same pick in game 3, closing out the game after almost 50 minutes.
The following is Inven’s interview with HLE’s jungler, Park “Arthur” Mi-reu.
It was a long series, but HLE managed to take the victory. How do you feel about the win?
Today’s victory marked our first win streak, so it feels very good to do it against NS, who have been looking very good recently.
What do you think was the cause behind HLE’s slump during the beginning of the split?
We basically didn’t adapt to the meta well. We tried using the same strategies as the Spring split, but it didn’t work out well.
Does that mean that the coaching staff focused their feedback around the meta and the champion pools of the players?
Not really. We prioritized improving individually over champion pools and the meta.
Do you think that this win streak will turn the momentum over to HLE?
Yes. Our team atmosphere has been very good lately, and I think today’s win streak will improve it even further. I think we’ll be able to continue winning from now on..
How do you compare yourself to Kim “yoHan” Yo-han, who’s competing alongside you for the starting spot?
He’s very good at setting things up early, as well as covering for our teammates. I think I’m very good at early skirmishing, and confident in playing proactively.
Chovy’s in-game calls were something that caught my eye. Is he making more in-game calls than before?
His in-game calls become different when he’s on champions that utilize the map on a larger scale. However, I think he’s made more calls than usual.
Because of Chovy, who’s basically the superstar player on the team, other players tend to receive less spotlight. What are your thoughts on this sentiment?
Chovy’s the best mid laner I’ve ever seen, so he fully deserves all the spotlight. I don’t mind him getting all the attention.
As HLE finished the Spring split in 3rd place, you must really want to go to Worlds this year.
I really want to go. If I could sell my soul to go to Worlds this year, I would do it in a heartbeat [laughter]. When it comes to practice, everyone’s working very hard, so when it comes to practicing, there’s no need for the fans to worry.
Lastly, is there anything you want to say?
I want to thank everyone for cheering for us. We’re finding our momentum back, so I hope that we can continue on winning.
