On June 30, in the 2021 LCK Summer Split, kt Rolster faced T1 and Fredit BRION faced Gen.G. In today’s match T1 and Gen.G each collected a win in three games. T1 rose to 5th place and Gen.G remained at the top, undefeated.

In game 1 of the first match, T1 took a clean win. Kt Rolster picked Senna and Lux into their bot lane, but T1 made 2 kills in the head-to-head in the bot lane. This snowballed to a big lead for T1. Starting with their lead in the bot lane, T1 started to benefit from all around the Rift. All kt Rolster was able to do was take two dragons. As much as T1 had a stable lead, they didn’t overextend and they closed the game after taking their second Baron.

The beginning of the second game was the opposite of game 1. Kang “Blank” Seon-gu picked up first blood in mid lane and kt Rolster collected kills one-sidedly, but T1 countered with Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s super play. As the two teams were quite evened out, there weren’t many fights. As kt Rolster had a charging comp, they wanted to start teamfights, but Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s Twisted Fate evaded kt Rolster’s attempts well. However, at the sixth dragon, kt Rolster managed to score an Ace. Although T1 took the dragon, kt Rolster took the win and tied the game.

With the match tied, kt Rolster had a good start with their priority in top lane. T1 had picked Wukong into their top lane against kt Rolster's Renekton, and kt Rolster used that matchup to their advantage. The game turned around after kt Rolster cut off Park "Teddy" Jin-seong's Jhin. Kt Rolster attempted Baron right away, but T1 didn't allow that to happen. They scored an Ace in the 4v5 fight to turn the game around completely. At this point, Kim "Canna" Chang-dong's Wukong scaled extremely well and became kt Rolster's nightmare. As Wukong performed marvelously in all teamfights, T1 was able to take the win.

The second match was between Gen.G and Fredit BRION. In the first game, Gen.G top laner Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee picked Viego and took priority. This affected the jungle and Gen.G took the initiative of the game. The priority in the bot lane also belonged to Gen.G, so they controlled the dragons as well. As Gen.G continued to benefit, the global gold difference widened to more than 10K. At this point, there were no cards left for Fredit BRION to play.

In game 2, the game seemed to go in favor of Gen.G as they collected kills here and there. However, as Yoon “Hoya” Yong-ho struck back with solo kills, Fredit BRION managed to stay in the game. While the game was close between the two teams, it was Fredit BRION who collected the Cloud Dragon’s soul, but Gen.G was still ahead. The game didn’t go long afterward. At the 34-minute mark, Fredit BRION picked off Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk’s Kai’Sa, and this meant there was no way Gen.G could stop Fredit BRION from destroying the Nexus.

The two teams were more cautious in the last game. Gen.G was slightly ahead as they had two more dragons. They were also ahead in global gold as they collected more CS in all lanes. When Rascal’s Lee Sin scored a solo kill, the two teams started fighting fiercely. Gen.G and Fredit BRION gave and took benefits around the Rift, but it was Rascal to the rescue for Gen.G. In pinches, Rascal led the team out by making super plays, and Gen.G closed the game with their second Baron buff. With this win, Gen.G remained undefeated in the season.
