It looks as though Cloud9 AD carry Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen is making his return to the organization's League of Legends Championship Series roster. Zven was benched in favor of Cloud9 Academy AD carry Calvin "k1ng" Truong a few days before the start of the 2021 LCS Summer Split and has been starting for C9 Academy in k1ng's place ever since, but the organization tagged the LCS official Twitter account and Zven in a tweet with a photo of the AD carry saying, "He's back."

Because of his elite performance on the Cloud9 roster since joining at the beginning of 2020, Zven's benching came as a shock to the majority of the League of Legend esports community.

In Zven's place, k1ng has not been the reason Cloud9 has struggled to a 4-5 start to the LCS Summer Split, but the bot lane and the team as a whole looks as if its been defanged without its starting AD carry. Cloud9's limped away from week 3 of the Summer Split after losing all three of its matches to Evil Geniuses, Immortals, and TSM.

Cloud9 may have disappointed at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational relative to expectations, but no one expected the reigning LCS champion to be in a 3-way tie for 5th place at a 4-5 record at the end of the first of three round robins that make up the Summer Split. However, because of Cloud9's 13-5, 1st place finish in the LCS Spring Split, its cumulative LCS 2021 regular season record is 17-10.

Cumulatively, Cloud9 is tied for 3rd place with Team Liquid behind 2nd place 100 Thieves and 1st place TSM. C9 is in no danger of missing the 2021 LCS Summer Playoffs mathematically speaking, but its current form without Zven in the lineup has been underwhelming, and the organization may have decided that putting Zven back in the starting lineup is going to give the team its best chance to defend its LCS title down the stretch.
