On day 3 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, DWG KIA took on T1 in the second match of the day. DWG KIA managed to take the match victory, through a huge comeback victory in game 3.
In game 1, DWG KIA managed to snowball their lead right from the early game. They seemed to be one step ahead of T1 at all points of the game. Despite Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s Gragas getting fantastic engages in teamfights, they were not enough to overcome the lead that DWG KIA had.
Just like DWG KIA did, T1’s top side managed to take over the game in game 2. In every skirmish, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s Lee Sin and Kim “Canna” Chang-dong’s Gwen managed to beat everyone, thus snowballing their lead at a rapid speed. Despite DWG KIA managing to get three dragon stacks, every dragon teamfight that followed were won by T1.
Game 3 was a much closer game than the rest of the series. While it seemed like T1 managed to get a very solid lead and seemed like they were going to take the series home, one dragon teamfight was all it took for DWG KIA to take over. A dive that followed in the mid lane meant a slow impending doom, and with an outscaling team composition, it was only a matter of time until DWG KIA destroyed T1’s Nexus.
Meanwhile, the DWG KIA vs T1 match, managed to garner a huge viewership from all around the world. Official Twitch streams [both Korean and English broadcasts], and co-streams garnered a total of 380,000~ viewers. If you were to account for the number of viewers from NaverTV and AfreecaTV, the peak concurrent viewers were around 440,000~ viewers.
