UPDATE 6/14: Hextech Flashtraption has been fixed and will be re-enabled for week 2 of the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Summer Split. The rune was banned from being selected in week 1 of the LEC Summer Split due to a bug, but in Astralis' first match against SK Gaming, the AST support Hampus Mikael "promisq" Abrahamsson took Hextech Flashtraption on Leona despite the ban.

Maximilian Peter Schmidt, Head of Esports for League of Legends in Europe & MENA at Riot Games,  tweeted after the game in regards to promisq's Hextech Flashtraption rune and his at least one-time usage of Hexflash in the game. The rune has been re-enabled three days after the game, but no further statement has been made on whether promisq or Astralis as a team will be penalized.

The 2021 LEC Summer Split will kick off one rune down. Hextech Flashtraption, a rune in the Inspiration tree, will be disabled for week 1 of the LEC Summer Split.

A rune restriction is unusual in League of Legends Esports, but the LEC opted to disable Hextech Flashtraption for competitive integrity after a bug that occured in the 2021 League of Legends Pro League Summer Split. Against Bilibili Gaming, EDward Gaming support Tian "Meiko" Ye took Hextech Flashtraption on Leona, and after using Hexflash once in the bot lane, was unable to use Hexflash or Flash for the remainder of the game.

Hextech Flashtraption's description reads as follows:

PASSIVE: While Flash Flash is on cooldown, it is replaced by Hexflash Hexflash.

ACTIVE: You begin Channeling icon.png charging for up to 2.5 seconds, increasing Hexflash's range over the duration. After at least 1 second, you can reactivate the spell, which is automatically done so when the charge completes without reactivation. Releasing the charge earlier than 1 second or entering combat with an enemy Champion icon.png champion will put Hexflash on Cooldown reduction icon.png cooldown for 10 seconds.

RECAST: You blink to the target location within range.

Among all rune sets in professional play, the Inspiration tree is the most frequently selected secondary branch. Hextech Flashtraption, while not a universal selection, is popular amongst tanky engage supports like Alistar, Sett, and Leona who are looking to force snap-execution engages and tower dives. As a result, there is a possibility that these type of champions are de-prioritized in the current meta amongst LEC supports.

The LEC was the only league to formally announce the disabling of Viego earlier in the season, despite him not showing up in any Riot-sanctioned leagues. Whether more leagues have disabled Hextech Flashtraption is currently unknown as no announcements have been made at this time.
