In the second semifinal match of MSI 2021, DWG KIA defeated MAD Lions 3-2 and moved on to face RNG in the finals. Despite being down 1-2 in the series, the team looked to keep composure and were able to take the victory against the LEC representatives.
The mid laner for DWG KIA, Heo “ShowMaker” Su, joined Jeesun Park for a quick post-match interview for the LCK broadcast.
Congratulations on your victory. How do you feel about going to the finals to play against RNG?
It was a tough series today. The finals are in less than 24 hours, so we’ll make sure to prepare well to win tomorrow.
This series was the first time that DWG KIA went to game 5 in an international tournament. What did the team talk about, heading into the last game?
KkOma told us to keep our calm, so we all tried to maintain composure in game 5. To be honest, I don’t remember much [laughter].
DWG KIA chose MAD Lions over PSG Talon as the semi final opponents. What was the focal point in preparing for tonight’s series?
We felt that MAD Lions were easier to face than PSG. We focused on bot lane priority and overall balance. Although it did kinda fall apart during the middle, I think we recalibrated well.
DK banned Lee Sin on the blue side, but first picked him later on. Can you tell us more about it?
Lee Sin lane clears pretty fast, so it’s easier for us to play bot-ccentric. It was one of those balance issues that we felt needed to be recalibrated.
In the end, the team reverse swept the series. What changed for the team?
Everyone played well; despite being down 1-2, maintaining composure was the biggest reason behind the reverse sweep.
The finals against RNG is in less than 24 hours. How will the team regroup in such a short amount of time?
We don’t have time, so we won't be able to do something. I think we’ll just get a good night of sleep.
Lastly, a word to your fans?
I think we made our fans worry again for going all the way to game 5, so we’ll make sure to 3-0 tomorrow.
