Riot released a competitive ruling on Monday in which they suspended Jay "Sinatraa" Won from VALORANT global competition for "failing to fully cooperate with Tournament Operators investigation."

In addition to his suspension, they also said he will be required to complete remedial courses and training in professional conduct before returning to competition. The investigation in question was related to a series of sexual assault allegations made against the player by his ex-girlfriend Cleo ‘cle0h’ Hernandez. That investigation has since been referred to law enforcement.

"Jay “Sinatraa'' Won has violated Rule 8.1 of the VALORANT Global Competition Policy and will be suspended for six months (which is considered to have begun with his administrative suspension on March 10, 2021), continuing through Sept. 10, 2021 (end of the Stage 3 Challenger season and final Masters event)." Riot stated in their ruling. "He will be eligible to return for Last Chance Qualifiers and Champions. Furthermore, Won is required to complete professional conduct and professional conduct training prior to being able to return to play."

Rule 8.1 states that, "team Members have a duty to tell the truth in connection with any investigation conducted by or for the Tournament Operator and have a further duty not to obstruct any such investigation, mislead investigators or withhold evidence."

Riot explained that they started their investigation immediately upon being made aware of the sexual assault allegations against Sinatraa. According to Monday's ruling, Riot's Competitive Operations team has since deferred the investigation to law enforcement, so they did not come to a definitive conclusion as to the truth of the allegations against the player. Sinatraa did, however, violate Riot rules during the investigation.

"On at least two occasions Sinatraa misrepresented certain facts, made false statements, and did not cooperate with the investigation in a way expected of a professional VALORANT esports player." Riot said in the context section of their ruling. "Of note, Sinatraa’s public commitment on social media to provide the full audio and video clip referenced in the original post was never fulfilled. Cooperation in these investigations is of the utmost importance, especially when the nature of the allegations is as serious as sexual assault. This behavior will not be tolerated by VALORANT Esports."

While Riot's investigation into Sinatraa is currently closed, they did reserve the right to reopen the investigation and take further action against Sinatraa if needed in the future. Sinatraa is also still under investigation by his team Sentinels.

Sinatraa was originally placed on temporary suspension by both Riot and Sentinels in March, while they investigated the accusations of abuse. He will now remain suspended through the Stage 3 Challengers and the Stage 3 Masters tournament.
