Group B of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational has concluded. League of Legends European Championship representative MAD Lions has qualified for the rumble stage as the first seed from the group, while Pacific Championship Series champion PSG Talon settled for 2nd seed in making its own way to the next round of the tournament.

MAD and PSG are the 3rd and 4th teams to qualify for the 2nd round of MSI 2021. Group A concluded yesterday with Chinese representative Royal Never Give Up being the first team to qualify for the rumble stage, and League of Legends Circuit Oceania champion Pentanet .GG as the second.

MAD opened up the day by dropping an upset loss to Turkish Championship Series fastPay Wildcats, while PSG took wins against Brazilian representative paiN Gaming and the Wildcats to move to first place at 4-1. As a result, the 1-4 fastPay Wildcats were the second team to be eliminated from MSI 2021 after Unicorns of Love yestereday.

MAD's next win against paiN Gaming mathematically eliminated both paiN and the Wildcats from qualifying for the rumble stage. paiN, now eliminated, was able to secure bittersweet bragging rights in the Brazil-Turkey rivalry its final game of the group against Wildcats.

The last game of the day featured MAD Lions and PSG Talon at 4-1 records a piece. Both teams had already qualified for the rumble stage, and because the rumble stage features six teams — two from each of the three groups at MSI 2021 — there is no seeding advantage for finishing 1st or 2nd place in a group. Despite this, MAD and PSG played as ferociously in their first meeting earlier in Group B, except this time around, PSG put up a much better fight than the first time around.

PSG was able to keep the game even throughout the early and mid game, but MAD continued to edge the game in its favor after securing every elemental drake of the match and ultimately closed out the win to secure 1st place in Group B. MAD, PSG, RNG and PGG await the conclusion of Group C, which will decide which two teams will be rounding out the rumble stage in the next round of MSI 2021.
