On May 5, Riot Games held a media day for the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational. Along with explaining Riot Games’ plans for their esports year including League of Legends, VALORANT, and Wild Rift, they hyped up the upcoming international tournament with an interview with Heo “ShowMaker” Su.
What is the preparation for the team looked like to get here to MSI and ultimately defend your title at Worlds again this year?
We amended a lot of the problems we had before and that worked out for us to make it to the MSI this year. And I think we should do well that way going forward.
Upon winning the LCK finals, you mentioned one of the teams you might be excited to play against was G2, if they happened to make it. G2 fell short, but Perkz will be returning to the stage under the Cloud9 banner. Do you have any words specifically for Perkz ahead of that matchup?
I'm a little disappointed G2 didn't make it this year, but Perkz from last year's G2 is here, and I feel like it's my job to beat him this year.
As opposed to G2 showing up for the LEC, it will be MAD Lions. Which is kind of a new era in the LEC. Do you have any opinions on MAD Lions as a team and your matchup against Humanoid in the mid lane?
From what I remember, it was always Fnatic and G2 winning the LEC. The fact that MAD Lions are here now means that they're a good team already. In my opinion, Humanoid is the ace of that team, so I'm really looking forward to meeting them.
You had an arm injury earlier this year. How's the injury and do you feel 100% coming into the tournament?
My right arm hurt a bit, but I took proper medication and I'm feeling fine.
People are always curious about which team is going to form a new dynasty. Do you think DWG KIA is going to be the team that's the next to do it?
I think it's too early for me to say that we've made the dynasty yet. But we'll keep trying and we hope to be making our own dynasty soon.
