UPDATE 4/19: A few days after 100 Thieves announced its signing of new head coach Bok "Reapered" Han-gyu, more news that could benefit the roster came to light. South Korean top laner Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho has acquired his Green Card having had played eight total LCS splits.

Now that Ssumday is a NA resident, 100 Thieves has opened up another import slot on its roster, and with Nisqy's former head coach Reapered on board, the events surrounding 100 Thieves' LCS roster in the past few days point further towards the report of 100 Thieves trying to acquire Nisqy from Fnatic ahead of the 2021 LCS Summer Split.

Original story:

Turkish esports publication Esporin has reported that 100 Thieves is in talks to acquire mid laner Yasin "Nisqy" Dincer from Fnatic.

Fnatic grinded to a 9-9, 5th place finish in the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Spring Split, and though the team was able to eliminate SK Gaming from the LEC Spring Playoffs in the first lower bracket match, the old king of Europe found itself eliminated in the next round in a sweep at the hands of FC Schalke 04 Esports. It was the first time in four years that Fnatic had failed to finish top 3 in the European post-season.

Nisqy was not the only, or even biggest, problem for Fnatic this spring, but it is possible that FNC would prefer to continue with FNC Academy veteran mid laner Fabian "FEBIVEN" Fiebstraten come summer, especially given FEBIVEN's experience with the org as the home of his professional debut.

From the perspective of 100 Thieves, the deal makes a ton of sense. 100's identity crisis was rooted in its mid lane swap of Tanner "Damonte" Damonte in favor of 100 Thieves Academy mid laner Tommy "ry0ma" Le, and while ry0ma held his own on the meta champions individually better than Damonte was, 100 never reclaimed its dominant, cohesive form showcased in the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Lock In.

100 Thieves almost certainly boasts the funds to buyout Nisqy's contract from Fnatic, and Nisqy is not only superior in skill when compared to both Damonte and ry0ma, but has shown superior flexibility across multiple competitive metas. Nisqy doesn't just have the superior level and champion pool, he has also played in North America twice, first with Team Envy and then with Cloud9, including during the latter's championship in the 2020 LCS Spring Playoffs.
