Rogue has shook the foundation of the League of Legends European Championship by eliminating G2 Esports in a 3-1 upset. Rogue will now move on to face MAD Lions in the finals of the 2021 LEC Spring Playoffs, which is a first for both organizations as well as the first final to not feature either G2 or Fnatic in EU post-season history.

Rogue found itself in the same position as it was in the 2020 LEC Summer Playoffs. Up 2-1 against G2 Esports, Rogue was poised to make its first LEC final, but G2 stormed back and won the series 3-2. This time around, this was not the case. Rogue simply outclassed G2 Esports in every aspect of competitive League of Legends from start to finish.

Rogue mid laner Emil "Larssen" Larsson had no issue stepping to G2 Esports star Rasmus "Caps" Winther, and in what was possibly the best series of his career, RGE jungler Kacper "Inspired" Słoma outclassed Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski through and through.

G2 Esports has looked mortal all post-season. Its first series against FC Schalke 04 Esports was far more contentious than expected, ending in a 3-2 win, and in its second series, G2 lost to MAD Lions 3-1. G2 has made impressive lower bracket runs in the past two EU post-seasons to continue to defend its domestic title, but for the first time since 2018, G2 Esports will not be in the finals of the EU post-season.

Last time MAD Lions faced off against Rogue was in the first round of the upper bracket of the 2021 LEC Spring Playoffs less than one month ago, and MAD took the win in a convincing 3-1 series.

MAD's chaotic style of play disrupted Rogue's methodic, measured tempo more often than not, and the matter of who wins the next clash of styles in the finals will ultimately be a matter of Rogue not only learning from its last loss to MAD, but also, maintaining its momentum from its win over G2 Esports in the semifinals.
