UPDATE 4/11: Team Liquid has provided an update on Santorin's health, which includes the fact that Armao will continue to start in the upcoming finals match against Cloud9 as he did for the entirety of TL's 3-1 win yesterday over TSM.

Less than a day before Team Liquid's upcoming match against TSM in the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Mid-Season Showdown, the team has experienced a major shakeup. Due to a migraine and a lack of sleep, TL jungler Lucas "Santorin" Larsen has deemed himself unable to start. Team Liquid will start Team Liquid Academy jungler Jonathan "Armao" Armao for game 1 of the series, while Santorin will try to rally and recover in time to start in game 2 onward.

Santorin posted the announcement via Team Liquid branded graphic on Twitter, and the community support sent in his direction has been overwhelming in response. However, should Santorin be unable to play, it does heavily affect Team Liquid's chances of beating TSM.

Team Liquid Academy finished in second place in the 2021 LCS Academy League Spring Split, but surprisingly, lost its first match against amateur team Barrage.NA and was then the first team eliminated from the LCS Spring Proving Grounds in a another 2-0 upset at the hands of Golden Guardians Academy.

Santorin's announcement also provides context to his unchararacteristically poor performance against Cloud9 last weekend. If the sleep issues have been affecting Santorin since last Friday, it would make sense that it affected his performance against C9 jungler Robert "Blaber" Huang.

As of now, little is known in terms of when Santorin made this decision in context of the announcement itself, as well as how much time Armao has had to practice with the main roster. Santorin was delayed from playing in the first week of the 2021 LCS Lock In due to visa issues, so Armao has started for Team Liquid in the LCS before, but it's undeniable that this issue hurts TL's chances of defeating TSM, even if Armao only starts for the first game of the series.
