On day 44 of the 2021 LCK Spring split, NS RedForce defeated Fredit BRION 2-0 and locked their spot in the playoffs. Despite a lot riding on the line, they put on a stable performance against Fredit BRION to take the series victory.
The following is the post-victory interview with the support player for NS RedForce, Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu.
With this victory, NS locked in 6th place and is now headed to the playoffs. How do you feel?
I’m very glad that we’re heading to the playoffs, and feel even happier by the fact that I learned a lot as a player.
The competition in the middle of the pack was quite fierce. How do you reflect on your performance this split?
It was tough, but on a personal level, it was very fun. There were a lot of ways that the playoffs race could’ve gone, but I felt that we had the edge.
Many experts are saying that NS’ bot lane has improved significantly. Thoughts?
I’m not sure we’re playing well, but in my opinion, I think we’re just doing the things that we need to do.
There was a moment in the middle of the split when the team had trouble finding their ground. What were some of the problems that affected the team, and how is the team now?
There aren’t any particular problems within the team; we were just trying to make the best of the flow of things. Sometimes we played well, and sometimes we played terribly, so I feel that it’s just the natural flow of things.
Your top two champions this split were Rell and Alistar. Do you feel that you’re more confident on tanky and engage champions?
We created our own internal support tier list. Even if they get banned, I’m confident with other champions as well. In solo queue, I really like playing Poppy support, because of the variance that you get from roaming.
Any resolutions for the playoffs?
I think it’s important to look straight ahead and do what I must to prepare for the playoffs, rather than getting swayed by the opponent(s) that we’ll be playing.
Lastly, a word to your fans.
I want to thank them for all their support, and make sure to step up for the playoffs.
