UPDATE 4/24:
It was assumed that Gwen, the newest champion to join the League of Legends roster, would be disabled at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational due to how recently she was released, but another has joined the Hallowed Seamstress on the disabled list for the tournament. Viego has been disabled for the entirety of the 2021 LEC season, and now, the Ruined King will also be out of commission for MSI 2021.

Original story:

Viego has not been playable for the entirety of the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Spring Split, and it looks like that trend will continue into week 8. Riot Games' European Head of League of Legends Esports Maximilian Peter Schmidt confirmed that The Ruined King would continue to be disabled, but may see his LEC debut in the Spring Playoffs.

Week 8 of the LEC Spring Split will be the first games in the league played on Patch 11.5, but with the new patch, nothing has made Viego more competitively viable in the eyes of the LEC. Viego has not only been disabled for the entirety of the LEC season, but is also the only champion who has been disabled in the league. Fortunately for the LEC, Viego isn't an incredibly popular pick nor is he prominent in the meta — he's been played less than 10 times competitively in 2021.

Viego has been most prominent in the Oceanic region. He's been played four times in the recently started 2021 LCO Split 1, which has taken the place of the now-defunct Oceanic Pro League, and in those four jungle games, has a 75% win rate. There isn't enough data yet to see if this is simply a flavor pick down under, or if Viego is the new OP jungler months after his release, but if the latter comes true, the LEC could be at a disadvantage down the stretch of the season.

Of course, should Viego continue to be unplayable throughout the LEC Spring Playoffs and the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational, it can be assumed that The Ruined King would be disabled for the entire tournament across all regions as implied by Schmidt in his most recent Tweet regarding the disabling of Viego. The possibility of Viego debuting in Patch 11.6 for the LEC Spring Playoffs is still a possibility, but what that hinges on or what could hinder the possibility has yet to be disclosed.
