According to FunPlus Phoenix's official Weibo page (h/t @iCrystalization), jungler Zhou "Bo" Yang-Bo has reported himself to officials from the disciplinary commission regarding his checkered past, which includes match-fixing while in the League of Legends Development League (LDL). According to Bo, he was coerced into match-fixing, and he and FPX have vowed to fully cooperate with the launched investigation.

"Recently, we noticed a lot of online public opinion involving our player Zhou Yang-Bo (FPX.Bo)," FPX writes on Weibo. "Bo has also taken initiative to report to the club his improper competitive behavior, into which he was coerced while participating in the 2020 LDL."

While the investigation from the disciplinary committee is ongoing, FPX will suspend Bo from all future matches.

Depending on what the committee finds, it's likely Bo's former club, eStar, that will be in trouble. Bo played for Star Young during the 2020 LDL Summer Split and helped them top a top 8 finish in the playoffs.

LPL/LDL history of match-fixing

Bo's confession is another in a line of match-fixing in the Chinese League of Legends scene, and especially in the LDL. In April 2019, Rogue Warriors Shark was disqualified from the LDL Playoffs and fined $420,000 for match-fixing, and Riot Games China banned jungler Wang “WeiYan” Xiang for two years. In June 2019, LGD Gaming members were also found guilty of match-fixing, including Xiang "Condi" Ren-Jie, who received an 18-months-long ban, while managed Song "Hesitate" Ziyang was lifetime-banned from all LOL events.

What now for FPX?

With Bo suspended, FPX will have no choice but to rely on star jungler Gao "Tian" Tian-Liang, who recently had to take a personal break to mend his mental health. Tian has been officially moved back to an active position and will try to keep FPX on top of the LPL standings. The team is currently second at 7-1. EDward Gaming is first with one match fewer at 7-0.
