On February 21, in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split, DRX and T1 each defeated Afreeca Freecs and Liiv SANDBOX. It was another three-game match win for DRX as they placed themselves behind Gen.G with seven wins. T1 tried a new roster with Zeus-Oner-Clozer for a 2-0 sweep.

In the first match, Afreeca Freecs snowballed quickly from the top side. Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok’s Taliyah ambushed both DRX’s top and jungle. DRX tried to turn the game by winning the skirmishes around the dragon. The global gold tilted towards DRX at one point, but after winning a big teamfight, Afreeca Freecs took the game.

Game 2 was different. In the beginning, the difference in the top-jungle was bigger than the first game, but DRX’s counterattacks were sharper. The game started to get balanced after Dread’s 5-kill Kindred was cut off. Afreeca Freecs made a 4K global gold difference again with Baron, but as DRX won the Elder Dragon teamfight, DRX destroyed Afreeca Freecs’ Nexus with an Ace.

DRX had a good start in the third game. They countered Afreeca Freecs’ 3-man dive in bot lane, earning time for Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon’s Dr. Mundo to counter jungle. Afreeca Freecs had a few good moments, but it wasn’t enough to take down Dr. Mundo. As a result, DRX was able to take a 2-1 victory.

T1 started Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon in today’s match against Liiv SANDBOX. From the beginning, T1 pressured with strong laning. Liiv SANDBOX tried to play sidelane macro through Park “Summit” Woo-tae’s Camille, but it wasn’t enough. All they were able to do was stall the game. The game went in T1’s direction as Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s Thresh sentenced champion after champion to death.

T1’s strong laning continued in the second game. T1’s bot duo was completely dominating their counterparts which led to a mid lane dive, helping the top side scale. T1 made a 4K global gold difference in 13 minutes, as they blew up the game. With their YB roster, T1 collected a 2-0 victory.
