On Feb. 18, in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split, the higher-ranked teams, Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G defeated Nongshim RedForce and Afreeca Freecs, respectively. It was a close win for Hanwha Life Esports while Gen.G proved that they were indeed the natural enemy of Afreeca Freecs by sweeping them.

In the first game, Nongshim RedForce placed a good blow. Hanwha Life Esports tripped on their own legs due to excessive counter jungling. Nongshim RedForce took priority from the early game and took the game with their mid-late game teamfights.

Game 2 was full of brawls. When one team took a shot in the top half, the other responded on the other side of the map. In those fights, Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil’s Samira gained many kills and scaled well. However, Hanwha Life Esports didn’t give the range for Samira to deal damage. The game was close until Hanwha Life Esports gained the dragon soul and Baron, but from that point, the game was a breeze for Hanwha Life Esports.

In the third game, Hanwha Life Esports concentrated their bans on the jungle, sniping Han “Peanut” Wang-ho’s main champions. Peanut ended up picking up Trundle. Again, Nongshim RedForce had to rely on deokdam’s Samira for damage, but Hanwha Life Esports didn’t give them a chance. Park “Morgan” Gi-tae’s Renekton had scaled well and Hanwha Life Esports was able to take the win.

Gen.G maintained their dominance against lower-ranked teams. In game 1, they took priority in all lanes and Kim “Clid” Tae-min used the laners’ priority to dominate the game. It was difficult to find a mistake as Gen.G took the first game.

Game 2 was a great turnaround. Afreeca Freecs went ahead in the kill score 6-0, but Gen.G turned the table with one great teamfight near the dragon. Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee’s solo kill on Kim “Kiin” Gi-in was also very effective. After the game was balanced out, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk’s Ezreal was all over the place. Through this win, Gen.G extended their set-win-streak against Afreeca Freecs to 13.
