On the fifth week of the 2021 LPL Spring split, Royal Never Give Up defeated Invictus Gaming with a set score of 2-1.

Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-hao, a player that role-swapped to the top lane, stood out among his peers, as his Gnar and Sylas in this series showcased many game changing moments that led his team to victory. He was named the MVP in game 3, while RNG’s support player, Shi “Ming” Sen-Ming was named the MVP in game 2 for his performance on Leona.

RNG didn’t have a great start to this series, as IG took an early set lead with their victory in game 1. Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok and Song “Rookie” Eui-jin, the two superstar players on IG, got early leads inside their respective laning phases to get advantages, which then was utilized to get leads around the map and snowball the game. RNG’s nexus fell in 29 minutes, and the former world champions had the series lead 1-0.

In game 2, despite the lead that IG had due to their aggression, RNG managed to capitalize on some of IG’s mistakes, which resulted in catching out TheShy during critical moments of the game. With this momentum, RNG managed to pick up the Cloud soul and managed to steal the game and tie the series up.

In game 3, IG had a sizable lead with great dragon control, and almost even managed to pick up the Ocean dragon soul. However, the moment that it got stolen, the game suddenly went downhill for IG, as RNG’s jungler, Yan “Wei” Yang-Wei, continued to steal dragons, and with a huge teamfight victory in contest for the last dragon, RNG managed to destroy IG’s nexus and take the series 2-1.

Following this 2-1 win over IG, RNG (6-1) are now in third place in the 2021 LPL Spring Split standings. They’ll be back in action in two weeks time with two matches against FunPlus Phoenix and Rogue Warriors.

In the standings, RNG rise to 3rd place in the standings, while IG fall to 9th place. RNG’s next opponents are FunPlus Phoenix and Rogue Warriors, and IG will be facing Edward Gaming and Suning Gaming.
