In the first best of five of the year for competitive League of Legends, Cloud9 graced the fans with a reverse sweep, taking down 100 Thieves in a full five-game series. They concluded their Silver Scrapes series with two pentakills by C9 AD carry, Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen, one to finish Game 4 and one to put their stamp on the series in Game 5.

100 Thieves came into the series hot, looking nearly unstoppable in the first two games, finishing cleanly and confidently. Tanner "Damonte" Damonte got the better of star EU mid laner, Luka "Perkz" Perković, roaming with his team and setting up teamfights on Galio and Ryze. 100 Thieves' bot lane played phenomanally as well, with Victor "FBI" Huang securing an 18 KDA in the first two games with Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun assisting in nearly every kill. Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho was consistently ahead on the top side, and Can "Closer" Çelik was a force to be reckoned with in the jungle.

However, in Game 3, Cloud9 turned it around, bringing back what was a strong early game for 100 Thieves into an eventual Cloud9 victory and the start of their reverse sweep. In the fourth match, the game remained incredibly even until one huge fight at the end that obliterated 100 Thieves, leaving just FBI alive as C9 took the baron. Then, donning purple, Cloud9 stamped into the 100 Thieves base where a great double ult setup from Blaber and Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme prepped Zven's first pentakill.

In the final game, 100 Thieves got ahead early in the bot lane, killing Zven level 2, but they were unable to turn it into any real momentum. Cloud9 eventually took over, using their strong skirmish ability to claim neutral objective after neutral objective, shutting 100 Thieves out of the game and claiming the series victory.

After the match, Zven was awarded player of the series for his two pentakills on Miss Fortune to secure their reverse sweep. Cloud9 will advance to the Finals on Sunday, meeting the winner of the Evil Geniuses - Team Liquid Semifinals that takes place Saturday.
