DWG KIA has climbed to the top. On the 28th, in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split, Afreeca Freecs and DWG KIA swept Nongshim RedForce and Hanwha Life Esports, respectively. With the win, DWG KIA topped the standings.

In the first match, Afreeca Freecs was able to stop their losing streak at 2 by defeating Nongshim RedForce. Up to now, Afreeca Freecs had a bad mid-late game. Kim “Kiin” Gi-in had also said, “the macro and teamfights after 20 minutes were bad”. However, they were completely different today. In both games, they weren’t ahead in the early game, but they were able to claim the victory through mid-late game teamfights.

The highlight was game 2. Afreeca Freecs was in a critical situation where they were behind 5K global gold, but the mid-jungle stepped up as saviors. Song “Fly” Yong-jun’s Viktor and Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok’s Olaf dealt massive damage in teamfights to lead the team’s victory. Through the win, Afreeca Freecs collected their second win of the season.

The second match was between teams that were tied in 1st place. As much as it was a clash between the top teams, the level of play was extremely high. In game 1, Hanwha Life Esports attempted to get ahead through skirmishes while DWG KIA struck back. Hanwha Life Esports won most skirmishes, but DWG KIA took benefits through quick macro. Kim “Khan” Dong-ha’s Quinn dominating the sidelanes was a big help for the team, and DWG KIA succeeded to destroy Hanwha Life Esports’ Nexus first.

Game 2 was completely different. DWG KIA took the challenge and stood ground on the ring. The determined DWG KIA was invincible. They pulled off super plays in all of the fights to blast Hanwha Life Esports’ hopes. Especially, Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s Zoe had an amazing performance that no one could stop. With an 11/0/11 KDA, ShowMaker took the Player of the Game for this game. With the win, DWG KIA rose as the sole leader in the LCK.
