Day 11 of the 2021 LCK Spring split came to its conclusion. Both Hanwha Life Esports and DAMWON KIA respectively took down Fredit BRION and Gen.G in their respective matches of the day. After today, HLE and DK are now tied in first place, with a 4-1 record in the standings.

HLE took down BRO in game 1 to take the lead in the series 1-0. It was a game where all five members of HLE decided to step up their game, especially their rookie jungler, Park “Arthur” Mi-reu. His Pantheon was able to assert his aggression throughout the set and showed versatility. He was named Player of the Game (PoG) for his performance in game 1.

In game 2, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, once again, proved why he’s considered the best mid laner in the LCK. He was able to show dominance on Yone, as his pressure in the mid lane led to a solo kill, and completely took over team fights. In a post-match broadcast interview with Chovy, he commented, “Even if Yone’s banned, there are a lot of other champions I can play”, showing confidence on his champion pool.

DK and Gen.G faced off in the second match of the day. Sung “Flawless” Yeon-jun subbed in for Kim “Clid” Tae-min in the jungle role, in a match considered to be the highlight match of the week, game 1 was that fierce. Game 1 set the record of being the longest in this split, with Gen.G taking the victory at 52:40.

However, DK were not going to go down without a fight. Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, who’s considered a ‘Gnar enthusiast’ for his successful performances with Gnar, proved himself once again in game 2. A four-man Gnar ult in an early game skirmish was just what DK needed to snowball the game, as the game suddenly became pretty one-sided for DK, and the series was tied up 1-1.

With everything on the line in game 3, the momentum drastically shifted in favor of DK when they got three kills in a bot lane skirmish. The snowball kept rolling relentlessly, as they continued to win team fights and aggressively dove the mid inhibitor turret to take an even further advantage. Eventually, Gen.G’s nexus fell, and DK took a 2-1 victory over them to stand at the top of the standings.
