When Chovy was asked, “Why were you so keen on killing your former teammate”? He replied with a smile, “Just because”.

On Jan. 22nd, day 8 of the 2021 LCK Spring split took place, with kt Rolster taking on Hanwha Life Esports in the first match of the day. HLE managed to reverse sweep the series 2-1 against KT, and continued their climb up the standings. After the match, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, the mid laner for HLE, joined Inven for a 1 on 1 post-match interview.

Chovy stated that because his former teammate on DRX, Choi “Doran” Hyun-joon, was on KT, he really wanted to win, and he was incredibly happy that he won. Because of how close the match was, he further went on to compliment Doran on his performance. “I think I can say that he put up a good fight. However, he was up against me and Deft, so don’t you think it would’ve been hard for him to beat us?” Chovy then went on to share about how he had the most fun when he kept killing Gangplank as Lucian.

When asked about the reason behind the urge to kill his former teammate, he responded with a smile, “Just because. The moment he was in range, I wanted to kill him. It’s not personal or anything like that, but as my former teammate, Doran stood out more. It’s just a curiosity thing (laughter).

Afterwards, he talked about why he didn’t play Syndra. For the record, since his debut, Chovy only has one competitive game on Syndra. Ironically, it was against kt Rolster during the 2020 KeSPA Cup, and the result was a loss. He replied, “Players have at least one champion that just doesn't fit them, and that champion for me, is Syndra. Syndra and I don’t mix well. Rather than learning her, I think it’d be faster to learn how to beat her.”

Lastly, he shared his thoughts about their next match against Gen.G. He stated that their match against Gen.G will determine where HLE stands among other teams. “Gen.G’s a really good team, so I believe that match will allow us to determine where we roughly stand in the standings. I really want to beat them.”
