On the 20th, Liiv SANDBOX faced Afreeca Freecs and DRX played Nongshim RedForce in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split. In the first game, Liiv SANDBOX swept Afreeca Freecs 2-0 and registered their first win of the season, and DRX collected their second win of the season after a great battle against Nongshim RedForce.

Liiv SANDBOX wasn’t able to show their best in the first week of the LCK as they only had two losses. From the first game, things went well for them. Yoo “FATE” Soo-hyeok’s Orianna scaled well with no deaths in fierce fights and led the team to victory. Their macro was a level above their counterparts as they collected all the major objectives through the game.

In the second game, Lee “Effort” Sang-ho had a great performance. Effort played Nautilus and showed precise skillshots starting from an early mid roam. Liiv SANDBOX overcame their weakness in teamfighting through Effort’s performance and dominated Afreeca Freecs to gain their first win.

The second match was between DRX and Nongshim RedForce who each had a 1-1 record this season. The first game was taken by Nongshim RedForce. Their teamfights were spot-on as Han “Peanut” Wang-ho parried all of his opponents’ major skillshots with Stopwatch and Zhonya’s Hourglass.

Udyr appeared in the second game. Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon surprised everyone by picking one of the most unpopular champions in LoL Esports. Nongshim RedForce wasn’t able to deal with the surprise pick properly and DRX succeeded to tie the game.

Everything came down to the third game. Nongshim RedForce’s bot duo pushed the lane with force from the early game and were able to take town the bottom turret. However, DRX turned the game around through their comp synergy. It seemed the game would go to Nongshim RedForce again as they executed teamfights well, taking Baron and the Elder Dragon, but one overextension gave up their two major damage dealers which DRX took advantage of to end the game. The Nexus was destroyed at the 43-minute mark, and DRX took the win.
