UPDATE 1/22: Team Liquid has confirmed that Santorin will be starting against TSM in TL's final match of Group A of the 2021 LCS Lock-In after arriving in Los Angeles to be with the team last weekend. FlyQuest General Manager Nick Phan has confirmed that Josedeodo has also arrived in Los Angeles, but whether he will start for the team during the Lock In is currently unknown. Finn's visa has been approved, but it is unknown if he is in the country, let alone starting for CLG.

On the side of Immortals, Destiny's visa has been approved, and with 4/5 of IMT's roster currently at the team's HQ, IMT Academy will be starting in its place in week 2 of the 2021 LCS Lock In to allow the main roster time to develop synergy ahead of the LCS Spring Split.

UPDATE 1/21: Since the conclusion of week 1 of the 2021 LCS Lock In, three more visas have been approved. Counter Logic Gaming top laner Finn's visa has been approved, as have the visas of FlyQuest jungler Brandon Joel "Josedeodo" Villegas and Immortals support Mitchell "Destiny" Shaw.

UPDATE 1/16: Two days after getting his visa, Santorin has arrived in Los Angeles. Whether he will play for Team Liquid in its matches against 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians on day 3 of the 2021 LCS Lock In is currently unknown.

UPDATE 1/14: Santorin has confirmed his visa has arrived, while Broxah's update was far more somber. The earliest CLG's jungler would be able to travel to the United States to play with his team would be in February, and that's not even a guarantee according to what Broxah says in his video.

The 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Lock-In is only two days away, but unfortunately, not every team will have its full starting roster at the start of the season. Let's take a look at which teams have had to pivot their respective rosters last-minute due to unforeseen circumstances before the start of the LCS Lock-In.

Team Liquid announced on Tuesday, January 12 that jungler Lucas "Santorin" Larsen, who was signed in the off-season, would not be competing in week 1 of the LCS Lock-In due to visa issues.

TL Academy jungler Jonathan "Armao" Armao [formerly known as Grig] will be promoted to start in Santorin's place, but since a substitute jungler has not been signed to TL Academy, one can assume that Santorin will be ready to start for Team Liquid in week 2 of the LCS Lock-In.

Counter Logic Gaming's current situation is far more complex than Team Liquid. Multiple members of CLG tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in the team practicing from their own homes to properly quarantine infected members.

Due to the remote nature of the LCS Lock-In due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, players are still well enough to practice and compete remotely, but visa issues will bar top laner Finn "Finn" Wiestål and jungler Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen from starting for CLG at the beginning of the LCS Lock-In.

Colin "Solo" Earnest has been signed by CLG as a temporary substitute top laner, which implies that Finn is on his way. However, CLG brought Raymond "Griffin" Griffin [formerly known as Wiggily] back to the LCS squad in lieu of Broxah's visa issues, and Ryan "Keel" Keel [formerly known as Frostynomad] was signed as CLG Academy's new jungler. This implies that Broxah's visa delays could be much longer than Finn's and the organization is making sure it is prepared in the long-term.

Lastly, Travis Gafford reported that members of Dignitas have also tested positive for COVID-19. Dignitas has not made a statement regarding Gafford's report, and it is not known if DIG's roster will be affected should the report hold true.
