Team Liquid is trialing CS:GO player Jakob "JUGi" Hansen for their VALORANT roster, according to DBLTAP's Jarek "DeKay" Lewis. During said trials, JUGi had reportedly been slotted into the place of in-game leader Adam "ec1s" Eccles, though the report says it's unclear whether JUGi will replace Team Liquid's current IGL or somebody else, should he agree to don the TL jersey.
JUGi comes from a long career in CS:GO, which mostly saw him play for Danish rosters, most recently for powerhouse Astralis in a short, three-month stint that ended last July. On his list of achievements are several premier top 4 finishes, including StarSeries Season 6 (2018) and ECS Season 7 (2019). 2020, however, was a low point in JUGi's career. He spent the period between January and April on the bench of Danish team Heroic before getting picked up by Astralis, but only played a couple of tournaments with CS:GO's best team, resulting in a top 8 finish at BLAST Spring 2020 EU Showdown and an even worse 9-12th place at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020.
A potential transfer from CS:GO to VALORANT would not be surprising for JUGi, given how many players in Valve's FPS have made the switch. If he signs with Team Liquid, he will be in the company of another former high-profile CS:GO player in Adel "ScreaM" Benrlitom, and be able to play for one of the most promising VALORANT rosters in Europe. Team Liquid is currently ranked 4th in the region according to Liquipedia and come off of a top 8 finish in the First Strike Europe finals.
Current Team Liquid VALORANT roster:
- Adam "ec1s" Eccles
- Dom "soulcas" Sulcas
- James "Kryptix" Affleck
- Travis "L1NK" Mendoza
- Adel "ScreaM" Benrlitom
- Connor "Sliggy" Blomfield (coach)
