The League of Legends European Championship has officially announced its Spring Split start date, set to kick off on Friday, January 22nd, 2021.
The 2021 season comes with big changes in the league’s environment, with the departure of the legendary player Luka “Perkz” Perković from the European region. Out with the old, in with the new, we say goodbye to Origen, to welcome its new era of Astralis.
Returning to the region, we have Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer join one of the strongest teams in the EU, Fnatic. Speaking of which, it would be impossible to not mention the departure of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson from Fnatic, headed to be the Bot Laner of their biggest rivals, G2 Esports.
With the 2020 Season being played almost entirely online, and Germany’s most recent lockdown restrictions due to national COVID-19 daily cases being reported to be nearing 30,000, it is very likely we will have the Spring Split being played online. The LEC has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
