On the 16th (KST), SANDBOX Gaming announced that they have parted ways with their veteran support, Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyun. He first debuted under Najin Shield in 2013, and his days of prime in his career came in 2015-2016, under ROX Tigers. Despite the team’s main sponsor going bankrupt, he was still able to finish top 2 and top 4 in Worlds 2015 and 2016 respectively. Their semifinal series against SKT T1 in 2016 is still considered one of the best in LoL Esports history.

Since then, GorillA joined Kingzone DragonX alongside his lane partner, Kim “PraY” Jong-in. He won the 2017 LCK Summer split and qualified for Worlds, but fell to Samsung Galaxy in the quarterfinals that year. After such tenure, he had a short stint in Europe with Misfits Gaming in 2019, and joined SANDBOX in 2020.

SANDBOX is undergoing a huge roster shuffle in preparation for the 2021 season. WIth Kim “Micro” Mok-kyoung replacing Jacob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi as the new head coach for the team, they’ve announced the departure of Han “Lonely” Gyu-joon, Kim “Dove” Jae-yeon, and Son “Punch” Min-hyuk, they now say goodbye to this veteran support as well. As LCK enters its first year of franchising, it’ll be curious to see how this roster will be finalized for the upcoming season.
