Monday, November 2, Cloud9 officially announced that former pro player, Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin, would take the helm as the team's head coach going into 2021. Reignover replaces former Cloud9 head coach, Bok "Reapered" Han-gyu, who helped take the team to four World Championships, making it out of groups in three of them, and to semis once in 2018.
Cloud9 failed to make Worlds in 2020 for the first time in org history after attending each year since Season 3, despite having the most dominant run in LCS history this spring. Shortly after the season, Cloud9 released a video with the team, announcing they'd keep their roster the same, but then later announced their promotion of Academy top laner, Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami, over LCS top laner Eric "Licorice" Ritchie. Now they've confirmed their second change this off-season with Reignover's promotion.
Reignover was a professional jungler for a few years across three regions, Korea, Europe, and NA, and was a part of the famous Fnatic 18-0 run in the summer of 2015. Reignover came to NA with Fnatic teammate, Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon, playing for Immortals, but their team never found quite the same success as Fnatic. He later transferred to CLG before finally becoming a coach for Cloud9 in 2019.
Reignover has already received support from others in the scene, including former coach and content creator, Choi "Locodoco" Yoon-seop, who tweeted, "His personality + skillset is perfectly suited to do well as a head coach in LCS, C9 fans worried about losing Repeared are in for a pleasant surprise."
With Worlds 2020 concluding, the off-season is underway, check out all of the official transfers in our overview article here.
