UPDATED 11/16: Immortals has confirmed its parting of ways with jungler Jake "Xmithie" Puchero, support Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent, and top laner Kieran "Allorim" Logue via Twitter.
UPDATE 11/14: Immortals has confirmed that mid laner David "Insanity" Challe will remain with the team for the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series season. Insanity was signed as the mid laner for IMT Academy but spent the majority of the 2020 LCS Summer Split starting over Jérémy :"Eika" Valdenaire and in doing so put together an impressive debut at the top level of competition.
UPDATE 11/10: According to a report by Esportsmaniacos, Andrei "Xerxe" Dragomir has agreed to terms with Immortals for a contract signing at the beginning of the free agency window on November 16th.
Should Xerxe join IMT, he would be the second former Origen member to join the organization this off-season after Head Coach André "Guilhoto" Guilhoto. The report has been corroborated by ESPN' Esports Jacob Wolf, who initially reported that Immortals was declining the 2021 option in the contract of current jungler Jake "Xmithie" Puchero.
UPDATE 11/6: Immortals has confirmed André "Guilhoto" Pereira Guilhoto as their upcoming Head Coach for the 2021 season of the League of Legends Championship Series, stating "As we look towards a rebuilding and development oriented 2021 season, we're excited to announce André Guilhoto as our new Head Coach. We're confident in the coaching pedigree and passion for the work that André will bring to our team. We can't wait to get to work and will share more of what we're working on for 2021 along the way".
UPDATE 11/5: Immortals has re-signed jungler Nicholas James Joseph "Potluck" Pollock for the 2021 season. Potluck spent most of his 2020 on IMT Academy, but also started for the main squad at the beginning of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split.
According to a report by ESPN Esports' Jacob Wolf, Immortals is shaking things up after a disappointing 2020 season in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). Wolf reported that IMT plans to decline the second-year team option in the contract of jungler Jake "Xmithie" Puchero. In addition, the report states that IMT is planning on hiring André "Guilhoto" Pereira Guilhoto as the team's new Head Coach.
Xmithie signed with Immortals ahead of the 2020 off-season following two years of four straight LCS championships with Team Liquid. TL, looking for a stronger jungler in an international context, opted for Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen, and Xmithie's history of success with IMT in the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split made the reunion an easy fit.
Immortals' return to competitive League of Legends left much to be desired. The team had multiple chances to qualify for the 2020 LCS Spring Playoffs, but failed to win a single game including tiebreakers and settled for 8th place.
The next split was not an improvement — Head Coach Thomas "Zaboutine" Si-Hassen and General Manager Keaton "Keaton" Cryer were unceremoniously fired after benching Xmithie and veteran bot lane duo Apollo "Apollo" Price and Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent to the tune of an 0-6 start.
Paul "Malaclypse" Desci, IMT's Analyst who had recently taken over as IMT Academy's Head Coach in summer, became the Interim Head Coach and Immortals Gaming Club Director of Competitive Esports Mike Schwartz took over as Interim General Manager. The team's results improved after starting its veteran trio alongside young domestic players in top laner Kieran "Allorim" Logue and rookie mid laner David "Insanity" Challe, but IMT finished the 2020 LCS Summer Split in 10th place.
Wolf's report mentions that Guilhoto is being hired to work alongside Schwartz, which implies that Schwartz will continue to remain as the team's General Manager. Malaclypse will have his hands plenty full juggling the LCS Analyst and IMT Academy Head Coach roles, and Guilhoto might be looking for a chance of scenery after a rough finish to the 2020 season with Origen in the League of Legends European Championship.
Guilhoto has coached Origen for two full seasons, but following OG's recent rebrand to match its parent brand Astralis, Guilhoto's role going forward has not been determined, and if Wolf's report holds true, it would explain the lack of updates from both sides of the relationship.
As of now, Immortals' only player remaining on contract is Hakuho. Top laner Paul "sOAZ" Boyer, mid laner Jérémy "Eika" Valdenaire, and AD carry Johnny "Altec" Ru all spent the majority of the summer on IMT Academy and have been released from their contracts by the organization.
