Nike has announced the official release date of its newest Air Jordan design. The design was created to pay tribute to the biggest online gaming community in the world - hint, they are looking at League of Legends.
The materials were hand-picked to recreate the effects of lighting seen in-game, featuring a special subtly reflective fabric on the upper parts, showing an iridescent shine under lights. The light gray resembles suede leather, and to finish off the design, royal blue shoelaces and the classic MOBA map icon adorn the mid-section.
“This special-edition Air Jordan 1 Zoom 'Esports' is inspired by a league's championship trophy, in order to pay tribute to the players who strive for the game's highest honor. In addition, the iconic MOBA (Mobile Online Battlefield Arena) game battlefield map element is also reflected in the mark of the right shoe tongue.”
The sneakers have previously been featured as part of Nike's gaming collection, which was announced together with the LPL team merchandise drop. The LPL collection features team jerseys and a bomber jacket, on top of the Air Jordans.
The Air Jordan 1 Zoom “Esports” will be available for purchase on the official Nike website on October 24, 2020, and according to Hypebeast, it will cost around $170.
