Former Overwatch League star Timo "Taimou" Kettunen has announced this Tuesday that he would be parting ways with his current team, Event Horizon, looking for a new VALORANT squad to practice with.

In a conversation with Inven Global, Taimou noted that he is not a free agent at the time and that he still remains under contract with the organization, but is able to play with whichever teammates he wants.

Just in April of this year, the professional player announced his departure from competitive Overwatch. After reaching the 2020 Overwatch Contenders Season 1 with Dallas Fuel’s academy team, the player decided it was time to move on from the franchise, surprising fans with a few short sentences stating his retirement.

Taimou is known for being a versatile player that has pursued several different competitive titles, ranging from League of Legends, passing by CS:GO, Team Fortress 2, to the eventual character shooter Overwatch he has found success in. Over the years, he has passed through teams like k1ck eSports Club, IDDQD, Team EnVyUs, Dallas Fuel, and Team Envy.

The move from Overwatch to VALORANT is not exactly described as surprising, as the title grows in the esports scene, more players from different FPS IPs flock to the new title, in hopes to find success. Players like Overwatch League’s MVP sinatraa, Corey, Brussen, Kellex, to name a few, have all left the game looking for a fresh start.

VALORANT has not had an official competition yet, so the prospects of its esports scene are still in question. Riot Games has announced the game’s first tournament series, titled “First Strike”, is set to take place across the world, including North America, Asia, Turkey, Brazil, the Middle East, CIS, and Europe. Teams will be competing through qualifiers, with top eight First Strike Finals, from December 3-6.
