With the LG UltraGear™ FaceOff kicking off this coming Saturday, the matchups for the event’s bracket have been unveiled. Four teams, representing four different scenes, will clash in a double-elimination bracket to prove once and for all which game’s players will reign supreme in the VALORANT global scene.

Team Hero-shooter vs. Team Survival

Opening up a Saturday of VALORANT action will be Team Hero-Shooter, captained by Félix “xQc” Lengyel, taking on Team Survival, captained by Maria “ChicaLive” Lopez.

Team Hero-Shooter’s game of Overwatch is among one of the many games that VALORANT is often compared to, especially with its heavy presence in the global esports market. The game’s wide array of characters, each with their own special abilities, draws heavy inspiration from the MOBA scene that Riot has dominated with their other flagship: League of Legends.

However, Team Survival’s domain of Fortnite remains cut-throat and highly competitive, qualities given by its flagship battle royale gamemode. Despite its relatively young age, Fortnite is one of the top esports in terms of viewership and in prize money given, with the Fortnite World Cup boasting a $30 million USD prize pool across multiple events.

Both captains of this matchup are well-known within their competitive communities, and are sometimes cited as one of the best during their time.

xQc is notable as a former professional Overwatch player, and is among one of the most well-known names in the scene, despite retiring from active play nearly over a year ago.

Similarly, ChicaLive is considered to be the best female player in Fortnite, and was notably the first female player to be signed to Team SoloMid’s Fortnite team.

Who wins it?

If I had to place my bets, I would likely give this match over to ChicaLive. Fortnite’s massive popularity has made it one of the largest training grounds for esports talent in the industry, and has allowed thousands to make livelihoods off of their competitive skills.

While Team Hero-Shooter will be the most adept with the character-based FPS which VALORANT is built foundationally built upon, Team Survival can easily be quick to kill if xQc and company aren’t up to the challenge.

Team Delta vs. Team Striker

Following will be Team Delta, captained by Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar, going up against Team Striker, captained by Dimitri “Greekgodx” Antonatos.

Call of Duty, represented by Team Delta, is one of the grandfathers of the modern FPS industry, and is accredited with being one of the first major esports in the world, propelled by Major League Gaming (MLG)’s world circuit back in the late 2000s. The Call of Duty scene is stronger than ever now, with the Call of Duty League bringing players from around the world to the forefront of the game’s scene.

Activision’s long-running series is often seen against Counter-Strike, which is considered the most successful FPS esport of all time. Counter-Strike is possibly the oldest competitive FPS series whose competitive community is stronger than ever, with the game’s circuit remaining competitive even online. The game’s blend of tactical gameplay with twitch shooting made it the primary inspiration behind VALORANT’s core gameplay.

Who wins it?

Both TimTheTatman and Greekgodx are known for being highly competitive and both have participated in competitive events on stream. Their heavy drive to win and competitive attitudes make this possibly the biggest tossup of the entire event, so much so that predicting a winner is nearly impossible. This is one match you’ll have to see live for yourself.

And, if you haven’t yet seen, LG Electronics will be providing prizes to viewers not just in the form of world-class VALORANT action, but in the form of gift cards and LG’s new 144Hz ultrawide monitor built for gaming.

The LG UltraGear 27GN950-B is built for gaming, with ultrafast 1ms response rates on a screen clocked at an ultra-responsive 144Hz refresh rate. But with that speed doesn’t come compromise, with the 4K Nano IPS panel providing intense color accuracy and image quality.

Players reap the benefits of both one of the highest quality displays on the market and some of the fastest response times in the industry. LG has already sent out their newest models to the players in this event, and it’s been met with nothing but praise from all of them.

The action kicks off this weekend on the LG UltraGear Twitch channel, alongside the personal Twitch streams of the players in the event!
