LCL's Unicorns of Love showed a tour de force against TCL's champion Papara SuperMassive and qualified for the group stage of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship on the back of a 3-0 sweep. This is the first time the LCL as a region qualifies for Worlds' main event and the first time in UOL's org history.

SuperMassive entered the series riding the high of their upset win against #4 LEC seed MAD Lions yesterday, but today the Turkish champions looked disjointed and disorganized. Poor teamfighting engagements left UOL's carries largely untouched: game 1 became a "Twitch frag movie", as desk host Alex "Machine" Richardson put it, and game 2 saw UOL style on SUP with their signature double AP style, with Lev "Nomanz" Yakshin popping off on Kassadin, with Ilya "Gadget" Kamavchuk dropping bombs on Ziggs from the bot lane.

SUP couldn't solve their issues in time for game 3, and UOL — who had now switched from double AP to double ADC, running Vayne and Jhin — had little trouble completing the sweep, despite the occasional signs of life from SuperMassive.

UOL will now try to beat LCL's best-ever placement at Worlds that was the Albus Nox Luna Cinderella story at Worlds 2016. Led by Kirill "Likkrit" Malofeyev, Albus Nox reached the quarterfinals, coming second in a group with ROX Tigers, Counter Logic Gaming, and G2 Esports, before losing to H2K Gaming in the round of 8.

UOL will now have to survive the very difficult Group D if they want to match Albus Nox Luna's record. The "unicorns" join DRX, FlyQuest, and defending LPL champions Top Esports in the main event and will play their first match on Oct. 3 against LCK's #2 seed.
