On the 9th (KST), the battle for the very last ticket to Worlds took place between Gen.G and T1. With a set score of 3-0, Gen.G was able to take down T1 and took the last ticket to Worlds as LCK’s 3rd seed.
Game 1 was a very back and forth game. Gen.G took an early lead, but Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok's Ekko caught out multiple Gen.G members in the mid game to swing the game in T1’s favor. However, a huge ultimate by Gwak “Bdd” Bo-sung’s Azir in a teamfight shifted the momentum back for Gen.G. With T1 continuing to make mistakes afterwards, Gen.G took the lead 1-0.
Game 2 was even more heated. Despite an early lead by T1, Gen.G was able to catch up via teamfighting. Shortly after, Faker’s Sylas was able to survive a 1 vs 2 to gain a massive lead to shift the team’s momentum back in favor of T1. However, a botched TP by Faker’s Sylas in contest for the Baron Nashor shifted the momentum back for Gen.G, and Park “Ruler” Jae-hyeok’s Ezreal was able to carry his team to victory. With it, Gen.G led the series 2-0.
Gen.G continued to show a higher level of focus in game 3 as well. Despite T1 having a kill lead via early game skirmishes, Gen.G had a clear advantage in objectives and lane control. Eventually, Gen.G was able to take the Mountain Dragon Soul, and Gen.G was able to take the series 3-0 and became LCK’s 3rd seed for Worlds.
