The finals of the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split between DAMWON Gaming and DRX will be held on September 5. Ahead of the finals, Inven reached out to the head coaches of both teams to hear about their thoughts and predictions.
DRX played a full five-games against Gen.G in the semifinals, which ran late due to a long pause due to server issues. When asked about what the team discussed after the win, DRX head coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho said:
“After the match was over, I told the players that there won’t be any feedback today”, said cvMax, “It was too late because the match had taken a long time and all the players were quite exhausted. I told them there were things we didn’t do well, but there were many things that we did do well. Good job.”
In the match against Gen.G, DRX mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s performance really stood out and he got MVP praises in all the three games that DRX won.
“Chovy’s dips are high and he has an extremely high ceiling," cvMax praised his mid laner. "That day was the day Chovy was on his best. Especially the game where he played Ekko against Azir was a one where Chovy showed one of his best performances ever”.
On facing DAMWON Gaming, cvMax said:
“I think DAMWON Gaming’s current team power is No. 1 in the world. I’m happy that we’re facing a team that’s undeniably strong. If we were to win, it would be really satisfying, and regardless of winning or losing, it’s a chance to find out how competitive DRX is for the World Championship”.
CvMax picked Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu as the player he’s looking out for the most. The reason was simple: because he’s good. Canyon was considered one of the best junglers in Korea over the whole season. When asked what Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon needed against Canyon, cvMax was clear: “Experience”.
“We’re doing our best practicing through the information and data we have," cvMax addressed the fans at the end. "To those who cheer for us, even those who don’t cheer but have been paying attention to DRX, I’d like to thank you. We’ll be doing our best”.
