As similarities between traditional sports and esports grows, it’s no surprise we’re seeing more athletic brands embrace gaming culture and appeal to new audiences. We’ve seen esports orgs like Cloud9 team up with PUMA, Ninja partner with Adidas, and a new challenger, Champion has entered the match with their latest  “Gamer” line. The collection includes unisex hoodies, sweat pants, and patches designed with gamers in mind.

Champion states that their design team worked closely with esports players to blend both functionality and fashion into a garment that fits a gamers’ needs. The pièce de résistance of the collection is the patent-pending Gamer Hoodie that features a three-panel hood to comfortably fit over gaming headsets, oversized front pockets to hold a controller or water bottle, slimmer fit sleeves to allow for free movement, and anti-odor tech for when those action-packed moments get a lil’ stressful.

Additionally, hoodies also include two velcro patches, one on the left chest, the other on the right shoulder, to rock patches of whatever team or style the wearer sees fit. Champion branded patches are available for sale as part of the collection but it appears any velcro backed patch should stick.

Champion clearly did their research, and according to a press release is partnering with a slew of esports brands and influencers including HyperX, Dignitas, VENN, PlayVS, the Esports Awards, FaZe Pamaj, Nate Hill and FaZe Blaze.

Professional Fortnite player Nate Hill had this to say,

“I’ve always loved hoodies, but this is the first hoodie I’ve seen that was designed for gamers. It’s unique in a lot of ways from the oversized hood that you can wear with a headset to the oversized pockets, large enough to hold my controller.”

No word on when we might expect a release of additional patches or the Hyper X gear seen above but we’ll certainly update with new info once we have it!
