The VALORANT kings of Europe, G2 Esports, will look to win five straight Ignition Series titles at the end of this month. The "samurai" are one of the four invited teams to the €15,000 LVL Clash 2 and so far, they've been flawless.
On accolades alone, G2 is the best team in Europe and an argument can be made they're the best worldwide too, although there hasn't been an international competition to pit them against the North American and Asian powerhouses like TSM, Absolute JUPITER, or Gen.G Esports. That said, G2's record on the server has been nothing short of impressive. In their 25 games total, they have 22 wins, two draws (44-9 map score), and only a single loss — the latter happening due to Sage player David "Davidp" Pins having to forfeit the match due to passing of his father.
As LVL Clash 2 approaches, and with it likely the end of this debut VALORANT season in Europe, the main question is whether there's a team strong enough to keep G2 away from their fifth title. Neither of the other three invited teams has had much success standing up to G2. Ninjas in Pyjamas and BIG have had unconvincing results with no recent grand finals appearances to show.
Team Liquid (former fish123 roster) has had the most success with half a dozen titles in smaller tournaments and a runner-up finish at WePlay's Ignition Series Invitational, but the best they have done versus G2 is a 1:1 tie at Allied Esports Odyssey. As of today, G2's score against Team Liquid's stack is 4:1.
LVL Clash 2 begins August 28-29.
