[LCK Today] A close race for the 3rd place spot between T1-Gen.G... Team Dynamics eliminated from playoff contention

0

On the 9th (KST), day 34 of the 2020 LCK Summer split has come to a conclusion. With T1 and Gen.G both taking down their respective opponents, Team Dynamics and kt Rolster, it seems that the battle for 3rd place between T1 and Gen.G will continue on. Unfortunately, Team Dynamics has been eliminated from playoffs contention.

T1 took an easy 2-0 victory against DYN. With the top laner for T1, Canna, receiving POG for both sets, they mimicked the dominance they showed in the Spring split. In game 1, Canna was able to continuously kill Deokdam’s Caitlyn, and was at the forefront of every fight that broke out. He also showed the very limits of the champion, Camille, in game 2, where he even renewed his own record of getting the most amount of solo kills.

With this victory, they did not slow down to take down Gen.G from the 3rd place spot in the standings. Cuzz played Kha’zix in game 2, a signature pick from the seasoned jungler which marked its return after a long slumber. Despite Rich pulling out Fiora, a champion which also hasn’t been seen in the LCK for a long time, the Canna-Cuzz duo of T1 successfully stifled the top lane and snowballed the game.

With this loss, not only does DYN fall into a seven-match losing streak, they are now eliminated from playoff contention. DYN is now 4-11, and even if they win all three of their upcoming matches, they’re unable to catch up to the 5th place team, Afreeca Freecs, who sits at eight match victories.

In the following match, Gen.G was able to take down KT 2:1. Every time these two teams clashed, the series went to full three sets, and today was no different. Gen.G had full control of the games that they won against KT right from the get-go.

With their victory over KT, they quickly reclaimed their 3rd place spot that they lost to T1 for a brief period of time (literally couple of hours). However, with now only a one point difference, the race for that 3rd place spot looks to be a close one. On the other side of the spectrum, while it’s still possible for KT to lock in their playoffs spot, things do not look up for them.
