On the 25th (KST), T1 defeated Hanwha Life Esports 2-1 in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split. Hanwha Life Esports surprised T1 by taking the first game, but T1 managed to pull themselves together and win the remaining games. Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan had a great performance in game 3 with Karthus and was voted as Player of the Game. After the match, he joined Inven Global for an interview.
How do you feel about today’s win?
Game 1 was a bit difficult, but games 2 and 3 were played as we planned. I’m happy that we won.
There would have been some pressure since you lost the last match. Did something go wrong?
Things mostly went as planned, but we lost that way, so it was a bit… We came thinking we’ll win 2-0 no matter what, but it was hard that we lost game 1.
Your Karthus was one of the best Karthuses in pro play. Are you satisfied?
It went well. I was able to scale quite quickly. I hit level 6 early and took a kill at top lane. I snowballed well when I got the upper hand, so it went well. I’m satisfied.
Isn’t it regretful that you missed an assist in mid lane at your first ult?
I managed the Dark Harvest cooldown well but I didn’t think about Camille’s ult. If I was able to take that, I would have snowballed faster, but it wasn’t a big issue.
How is the Karthus pick in the recent meta?
It depends on how the composition is. In our comp today, it was a good fit. Camille often goes to the side lanes and since Karthus is a scale champion opposed to their Ezreal and Bard, it went well.
The casters’ desk often emphasizes that AP jungles are good. You’ve always played AP jungle champions well like Nidalee and Gragas. What do you think?
I like Gragas a lot. AP jungles are used because they’re really strong at their power spike and also great during teamfights. They do fall behind a bit to AD junglers in the early game, so it’s important to endure that.
When Karthus appears, people say that Kha’Zix can appear more.
For Kha’Zix to appear, more research is necessary. Although Kha’Zix was buffed, it’s still not that good.
It seems that T1 tried to make changes, but it didn’t work that well up to now in the summer. What do you think?
Rather than that we tried to make changes, we made many mistakes while trying to follow the changed meta. If we’re able to play according to the meta better, we’ll have better results.
At the end of the game, Effort was saying to Canna, “You know what I like, do it”, meaning he wants to hit the Nexus.
They’re the same age, so they kid around with each other more.
Is it only Effort that usually wants to hit the Nexus?
[Laughs] I also like to hit the Nexus, but I thought it would be alright to fool around a bit more so I did.
Your Volibear dives were very precise. How’s Volibear?
Volibear is kind of like AD Elise. You need to see and do the dives well. And you need to apply pressure using that. If the opponent deals well with the pressure, you have to benefit from the other side.
Round 2 is just starting. How’s your resolution?
If things happen as I say, I’d like to win against all the teams. We already lost once, but I think it’ll be good if we prepare well and win. Even if we were to lose, I’d like to improve what we lack and get to the playoffs and do well.
