Golden Guardians Jungler Can "Closer" Çelik's 12/3/11 Lee Sin performance was the hardest carry game of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split thus far. Despite Golden Guardians losing to Team Liquid after the impressive win over Evil Geniuses, Closer still managed to put up 71.66 fantasy points, the most of any player in week 5 of the Esports One Inven Global Fantasy League of Legends league.

In addition to being the most points scored in week 5, Closer's performance was also the most of any Jungler in the LCS or LEC for the entirety of the Summer Split. Only TSM Mid Laner Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg's 72.90 points in TSM's 2-0 week 3 eclipses Closer's week 5 performance amongst all LCS players this split.

Closer performed admirably on Olaf with a 4/3/3 scoreline in GG's loss, but the surging Team Liquid's 2-0 week was no accident. TL had the most fantasy points of any LCS team 68, and after its wins over CLG and GG, sits in second place with an 8-2 record — only one game behind Cloud9.

Evil Geniuses went 0-2 in week 5 against GGa and CLG, abnd has since signed Greyson "Goldenlue" Gilmer, who will be starting the mid lane over Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro to free up an import slot for Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon to start in the top lane over Colin "Kumo" Zhao in week 6.

However, due to the sheer length of Evil Geniuses losses — 43:37 against Golden Guardians and 47:52 against Counter Logic Gaming — Jiizuke and AD Carry Bae "Bang" Jun-sik still racked up fantasy points. Jiizuke and Bang led their respective roles with 69.07 points and 69.20 points in week 5.

True to its name, 100 Thieves ended up being a steal in week 5 of the LCS Summer Split. The team went 2-0 including the first win of any team against Cloud9 this summer, and is now 3-1 since subbing out Jungler Will "Meteos" Hartman and Support William "Stunt" Chen for 100 Thieves Academy's Juan "Contractz" Arturo Garcia and Philippe "Poome" Lavoie-Giguere.In Poome's second week as an LCS pro, the rookie Support put up a LCS best 41.60 points.

Poome wasn't the only 100 Thieves player to have a great fantasy week. Franchise Top Laner Kim "SSumday" Chan-ho put up 60.20 points in the team's dominant week, and while he went into the week confidently, he told Inven Global's Parkes Ousley that the dominant form of their victories was a surprise even to him: "I was imagining that we would get the first win against C9, but I didn't expect that it would come that easily."

It's most common for top fantasy scorers to be on teams who went 2-0 in a weekend, but week 5 of the 2020 LCS Summer Split had one top scorer with a 1-1 record and two with an 0-2 record. This week stands as an important distinction of the differences between successful fantasy scores and success on Summoner's Rift.
