On July 4th (KST), DAMWON Gaming swept Hanwha Life Esports 2-0 and SANDBOX Gaming collected their first win over Team Dynamics in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split. It was the first day that SANDBOX Gaming head coach Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi appeared at LoL Park.

DAMWON Gaming showed Hanwha Life Esports what it means to be one of the best teams in the league in game 1. It was completely one-sided from the beginning to the end. Except for when Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon’s Wukong was dived, everything went as DAMWON Gaming wanted. The biggest question was “who was the POG?” between Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee.

Hanwha Life Esports attempted to strike back in game 2, but BeryL’s Thresh prevented it by cutting off Park “Viper” Do-hyeon’s Ezreal. Afterward, it was DAMWON Gaming’s showtime again. DAMWON Gaming drew artistic paintings in later teamfights and all Hanwha Life Esports could do was to become the canvas.

SANDBOX Gaming claimed the first game against Team Dynamics. It may have been from head coach YamatoCannon’s presence in LoL Park; SANDBOX Gaming’s performance was completely different. Although it wasn’t that they didn’t make any mistakes, but they knew when to extend and did so. Especially, Kim “OnFleek” Jang-kyeom’s performance was that of the last year.

Game 2 was a bit different. Team Dynamics picked four damage dealers in the second game and they dominated the laning phase for a rather easy win. Park “Summit” Woo-tae’s Renekton seemed to have lost concentration after giving up an early death. After collecting the dragon’s soul, Team Dynamics won the fight near Baron and tied the game.

The first season win of SANDBOX Gaming came in game 3. Yoo “FATE” Soo-hyeok’s Corki was able to scale well to deal massive damage from mid-game. With a mid-late game composition, SANDBOX Gaming didn’t make any critical mistakes and was able to give YamatoCannon his first win in the LCK.
