On July 2nd (KST), in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split, Afreeca Freecs shut out Hanwha Life Esports and collected their third win of the season. The performance of Kim “Kiin” Gi-in really stood out and was voted as Player of the Game. As it was the three-year anniversary of his debut, he celebrated it by taking the Player of the Game. After the match, he was interviewed by the casters’ desk.
Congratulations on your debut three-year anniversary! How do you feel about today’s win?
I feel good that we had a clean 2-0 victory and I’m happy that I won on my debut three-year anniversary.
You didn’t get that many POGs up to now.
It was a bit unfortunate that I wasn’t able to get awarded POGs, but I got used to it. Although I’m used to it, getting the POG today feels really good.
Would you prefer being carried or carrying?
It feels better when I’m carried.
Mystic said that Kiin isn’t carrying as much as before.
I just do as I always do. Some days it works and other days it doesn’t. I think I got lucky today.
Describing today’s performance as luck is a bit of a stretch. How did your teammates react?
Well, there weren’t that many highlights in Game 1, but when I survived pinches, my teammates got more excited.
How was the Orianna pick?
Fly was really confident in playing Orianna. I think that’s why he plays her often.
In Game 2, Dudu and Cad really seemed to want to kill you. How did you deal with it?
When I first died, I saw my kill chance first, but Lee Sin suddenly appeared. They kept coming at me so it was uncomfortable.
If it was uncomfortable, Spirit could have visited to help out.
I was rather unsatisfied because the game didn’t go as well opposing to my struggles.
Your next match is against kt Rolster.
In the spring, KT beat us and started their winning streak. I’ll make sure it's the other way around this time.
Any last comments?
It would be good if I get a lot of POGs, but it seems that surviving is more important at the moment. I want to win easily, being carried.
