On July 1st (KST), DAMWON Gaming shut out T1 in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split. Unlike what the 2-0 score suggests, the games were very close and the second match was the longest LCK game of this season. In the match, Jang “Ghost” Yong-joon had a great performance and was voted as the Player of the Game in Game 1. He joined the media room for an interview after the match.
How do you feel about today’s win?
It was really a difficult victory. I feel good that we earned two points for the standings. I’m quite tired.
Did the match go as thought?
Game 1 went relatively how we thought, but in Game 2, the bot lane was blown up so the game became really hard.
Despite that, DAMWON Gaming caught up eventually and the game got really long. How did it get so long?
Both of our compositions consisted of rather “slow” champions. Other than that, the early incident in bot lane made the game longer.
What happened at Baron?
ShowMaker went in, saying that he might be able to steal Baron and he did. I thought it was our day, so we need to win no matter what.
It’s the fourth win for DAMWON Gaming. How well do you think DAMWON would do?
Gen.G, T1, DRX are the teams that I’m the most cautious of. If we prepare well against those teams, I believe we’ll be one of the top teams.
How are the ADC champion tiers in the recent meta?
I can’t discuss that in detail, but as you can see, Varus is always banned. He’s a really good pick. Other than Varus, the champions’ tiers vary by team. Afreeca Freecs are good with Aphelios. The synergy between the team and champions is important.
When T1 locked in Neeko, did you predict it would be mid Neeko?
Since Faker often played Neeko last year, we thought it was Faker’s Neeko.
Any last comments?
Our winning streak was stopped by Gen.G. We’ll make improvements and show good performances, fun performances and continue to win.
