Counter Logic Gaming's 2-0 finish in week 2 of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split was its first undefeated week of the entire season. CLG's 3 wins in its first four games of summer have already tied the win total of its 10th place finish in the Spring Split.

CLG game into week 2 1-1. The team was perfect game'd by Evil Geniuses in its first match of the Summer Split, but managed to put a scratch in the win column by triumphing over Immortals. The draft phase looked much more sensible for CLG in its second match, and the play of Mid Laner Eugene "Pobelter" Park on Diana was especially crisp.

In the match against Golden Guardians, CLG continued its good drafting trends by picking Aphelios for AD Carry Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes and Trundle for Jungler Raymond "Wiggily" Griffin. The team moved cleanly around the map, aided by Pobelter's strong play on Twisted Fate, and defeated GG in just over 30 minutes.

CLG's next opponent was Dignitas, who came into the matchup 0-2. CLG built upon the success of its composition in the win against Golden Guardians, drafting Aphelios, Twisted Fate, and Volibear for Top Laner Kim "Ruin" Hyeong-min once again against DIG. The game was much more back and forth than CLG's win over GG.

Not every play was executed as cleanly as what coaches Weldon "Weldon" Green and Kim "SSONG" Sang-soo would have liked, but when the dust settled, CLG stood triumphantly. In two weeks, CLG has already matched the total wins it was able to grab in the entirety of spring.

In a post-game interview on the LCS broadcast with Rivington Bisland III, Wiggily discussed that the team had been playing much more cleanly in scrims and that while it felt good to win again, the team expected more of themselves:  "There are still some things that we do well in scrims that we are flubbing on stage. It might just take some time because I don’t think we’re used to winning yet."

Counter Logic Gaming's next matchups are against FlyQuest and 100 Thieves on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, respectively. FlyQuest will prove to be a tough challenge, but if CLG can take advantage of a winless 100 Thieves and crack just one more nexus, it will have surpassed its win total from spring in the first three weeks of the LCS Summer Split.
