On the 20th (KST), Day 4 of the 2020 LCK Summer Split took place at LoL Park, Seoul. T1 marked their first match victory on the board, while Afreeca Freecs marked their 2nd match victory, against Hanwha Life Esports and Team Dynamics respectively.
In the match between T1 and HLE, many rookies started for both teams. From T1, Kuri started instead of Effort, while the rookie top, jungle and mid players for HLE, DuDu, CaD, and Mireu started in their respective roles.
T1 stood on top after a full three-game series. Effort was subbed in for game 3, and he made his existence very clear. Using his high win rate card, Rakan, he showed much proficiency on the champion, and HLE seemed to crumble at his feet.
WIth this victory against HLE, T1 marked their first match victory of the Summer split. Kuri, on Blitzcrank, showed much proficiency in game 1 as well, so T1 marked both a match victory and a successful debut of their rookie player.
HLE, despite their loss, took a victory in their own right, as DuDu’s Wukong played a key role in their victory in game 2. CaD and Mireu, however, made critical mistakes in the series, so their debut in the series was not as celebrated as DuDu.
Meanwhile, in the first match of the day, Afreeca Freecs defeated Team Dynamics 2-1 took home their 2nd match victory of the split.
In all three games, it was a battle of poke vs. standard front-to-back comp, with poke comp falling in all three games. With both teams opting to go for either Aphelios or Ezreal, but Aphelios proved to be the key champion for both teams. AF’s top laner, Kiin, also successfully brought out Urgot, which was the first time being picked in the LCK in over a year.
Meanwhile, Team Dynamics experienced their first match loss at LoL Park. Game 2 was their first set loss, while their loss in game 3 marked their first match loss.
