Immortals has unveiled its starting roster for the opening weekend of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split. The five-man lineup features players who played on both Immortals and IMT Academy in spring, and most notably, decorated Jungler Jake "Xmithie" Puchero will not be starting in the LCS for the first time in six years. Nicholas James Joseph "Potluck" Pollock will be getting the start in IMT's match against FlyQuest this Saturday.

In an interview with Inven Global earlier this month, Xmithie mentioned that IMT had been mixing and matching rosters in practice and hinted at potential swaps before the start of the split. Still, the best North American Jungler in history playing on an Academy team is surprising.

Potluck made his professional debut as the starting Jungler for Golden Guardians Academy in the 2018 NA Academy League Summer Split. Potluck parted ways with the team after the end of the season, but returned to the org in May 2019 as a Two-way Player Coach, working for both GG rosters in the organization. Potluck has been the IMT Academy Jungler since he was signed at the end of 2019, and Immortals' Summer Split match will mark his first game at the LCS level.

The IMT Academy bot lane duo has also been promoted for the start of the split. AD Carry Johnny "Altec" Ru spent the first half of the Spring Split starting in the LCS before being swapped out for Apollo "Apollo" Price, who played for IMT Academy at the start of 2020. Austin "Gate" Yu, the Support for IMT Academy, has also been promoted alongside Altec. Mid Laner Jérémy "Eika" Valdenaire and Top Laner Paul "sOAZ" Boyer have retained their starting positions from spring.

IMT Academy now boasts over a decade of LCS experience on its roster in Xmithie, Apollo, and Support Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent, but it would not be a surprise to see IMT continue to experiment with its rosters after a disappointing 8th place finish in the 2020 LCS Spring Split.
