The following was sent to Inven Global as a Press Release by Riot Games Korea.
Riot Games Korea announced that the 2020 LCK Summer split will start in June. 17th (KST).
Through a draw, the opening match of the 2020 LCK Summer split will be between SANDBOX Gaming and Afreeca Freecs. Much anticipation awaits the opening match, as the team that narrowly escaped relegation clashes the team that had a fluctuating performance in the Spring split. Also, as the LCK’s first Western coach, Jakob “Yamatocannon” Mebdi, takes the reigns of SB as the head coach, it’ll be curious to see the various unique strategies and play style changes in the opening match.
DRX faces off against the 2020 LCK Spring Champions, T1, on Day 2 of the 2020 LCK Summer. While T1 looks to get a great start to their hunt for their 10th LCK title, DRX also put on a great performance during the Mid Season Cup, so it’ll be curious to see the clash of these two titans.
The 2020 LCK Summer split will consist of 10 teams: T1, Gen.G, DragonX, DAMWON Gaming, kt Rolster, Afreeca Freecs, Hanwha Life Esports, SANDBOX Gaming, APK Prince, and the newcomer to the LCK, Team Dynamics.
