Last Fall, Johnathan "Chime" Pomponio placed first in the North American Scouting Grounds tournament, and was drafted by Dignitas as the 8th overall draft pick. Though the team didn't sign him this Spring, he has now been signed by Golden Guardians to play as their Academy Support.
The org shuffled their Supports, Yuri "Keith" Jew and Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun, around between their Academy and League of Legends Championship Series rosters halfway through the Spring Split. But now Keith will return to his former AD Carry position as Chime files into the Academy Support slot. So far, there has been no announcement about former GGS Academy AD Carry, Alexander "Gorica" Gorica, who was picked third in last year's NASG Player Draft.
In a past feature covering his NASG team last Fall, we discussed Chime's playstyle, his goals, and the respect he garnered from LCS coaches and staff.
"Despite boasting the least experience of any Support at NASG 2019, Chime was the first Support drafted in the Dragon Draft, and was the 5th pick overall. Chime has entered Scouting Grounds with no expectations or specifically set plan, only seeking to learn as much as he can, but has found himself as one of the more consistent performers on Team Ocean Drake."
Inven Global will follow the Golden Guardians roster announcements and update this story accordingly.
