Last December, right after rejoining the League of Legends Championship Series, Evil Geniuses underwent an organizational rebranding, launching a new logo and moving away from the EG crest. But just six months later, they've announced a return back to their roots, revising the original crest to "pay homage to the org's history and look ahead to the future." Additionally, Evil Geniuses is also announcing a partnership with LG UltraGear, one of LG's newest gaming monitors, with further news on that partnership coming soon.
The following was released to Inven Global as a Press Release.
SEATTLE (May 20, 2020) -- Evil Geniuses (EG), one of the original and most iconic esports organizations in the world, today announced the completion of the final phase of its rebranding. This comprehensive project, which began with an initial reveal last December, has now been completed with the unveiling of a new crest, player jersey redesigns, and the announcement of LG Electronics USA as an official marketing partner featuring the best-in-class LG UltraGear gaming monitor.
This milestone for the organization is designed to showcase EG’s core brand DNA, both internally to players and staff, and externally to partners and our community. EG has strong, long-held beliefs in player and community individualism. These new assets celebrate that individualism as well as honor the organization’s history while looking to the future and creating a path for competitive success. Those core ideologies shape EG’s every decision - from brand identity to roster changes - and can be read in full detail here: evilgeniuses.gg/about
“Today represents a culmination of over a year of incredibly hard work and dedication by our entire organization,” said Nicole LaPointe Jameson, chief executive officer of Evil Geniuses. “Fueled by the passion of our unshakable community, we’ve finally given a face to our vision that’s not only representative and respectful of our past, but also dictates EG’s place in the future of esports.”
As part of this overarching initiative, the newly debuted crest and LG UltraGear partnership* logo are incorporated into the complete overhaul of player jersey designs. The jersey designs celebrate individuality by incorporating details unique to each player, while standing out from the competition with bold design and intricate details.
“Whether you cheered us to victory at TI5 in 2015, or you’re just becoming a fan of esports now, we strive every day to be there for our community,” said Phil Aram, chief gaming officer at Evil Geniuses. “We look forward to seeing our players write the next chapter of EG championships while under a banner that’s truly symbolic of everything that we stand for.”
