One of China’s biggest gaming and entertainment events will happen between July 31 and August 3. The event will not be pivoting to an online format like most conventions happening this year, but the event organizers assured attendees that extra precautions will be placed to minimize risks.

China Joy is considered the Chinese equivalent of The Electronic Entertainment Expo, which happens in Los Angeles, California. Local tech companies like NetEase and Tencent are part of the stacked up roster of exhibitors that will showcase the newest trends in the gaming industry in its 15 exhibition halls.

Given E3 will not be happening this year, it is likely that all eyes will be turned to this event. Giants like Nintendo, Playstation, and Microsoft have made appearances in the previous years, but it is not yet known if they will be present this year given the circumstances.

Last year, the event was just short of 365,000 attendees. Attendees will be required to comply with public health measures, pre-registering for the event under their real name, as stated on their ID cards, as well as be subject to temperature checks at the event. They have to be registered with the Chinese Health Code System App, where they receive a QR code based on how likely they are to carry the virus.

The organizers of China Joy are also putting together an esports event to happen in October of this year, under the name of S10. According to Newzoo, China will grow to be the largest market for esports companies in 2020.
